The Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) has announced its dates and the festival’s affiliated market (TIFFCOM)’s dates for 2018. TIFF will be held for 10 days from October 25 (Thu.) to November 3 (Sat.) at Roppongi Hills, EX Theater and other venues in Tokyo, while TIFFCOM will be held for 3 days from October 23 (Tue.) to 25 (Thu.) in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.
TIFF was launched in 1985 as Japan’s first major film festival and in the ensuing years, shined a spotlight on exceptional films and filmmakers from around the world. Celebrating its 30th anniversary last year with an expanded program, the 30th TIFF drew 201,790 attendees, an increase of 11% over the previous year.
TIFF Festival Director Takeo Hisamatsu commented: “We are very grateful for everyone’s participation and enthusiasm at the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival last year. For the 31st TIFF, the entire TIFF staff will do our utmost to make it even more appealing by further enhancing our program and related projects. We look forward to your continued support.”
